Crash testing was a critical part to our R&D and impacted the kennel’s final design, as you know. This included our strap system: In that testing, we were also making sure our Tie Down Strap Kit passed muster.
In our initial crash testing (before the kennel debuted), the original strap accessory actually broke – so we went back to the drawing board with those. The straps we offer on our website today, which debuted with the G1™ as a complementary accessory, have been tested and proven in all of our crash test scenarios. They are also the straps that the Center For Pet Safety used in their own crash test certification, and the set that they recommend when anchoring your crate to your vehicle.
Yes, they are pricier than some you might find online – but that's due to the quality construction of these straps:
- MFG Rated 2,500 Pound Load Capacity Cam Buckle
- MFG Rated 4,250 Pound Break Strength Nylon Webbing
- MFG Rated 4,250 Pound Break Strength Nylon Webbing
- 380 Degree Fahrenheit Melting Point
Whether you use our straps or not, Gunner always recommends anchoring the kennel to your vehicle through our stainless-steel tie-down pins – for both your safety, and your dog's.
